Remember when you were a kid that icky tummy sick feeling you got when you were absolutely POSITIVE that the boogy man really WAS under your bed/in your closet/behind the curtain? I had that same feeling last night, except...
For the first time in my life, I heard what I'm assuming were coyotes doing their laughing/baying thing at like 1:30 am. Keep in mind that I live in the city next to two semi-major highways. I honestly did not know what it was in my sleepy stupor, so naturally for about like 15 seconds after I woke up I had that scared out of my mind/is there a strange person yelling in my kitchen feeling.
Oddity/sad thought: Does this feeling ever go away as you get older or am I just a big weenie?

Unfortunately it never goes away. I get the same feeling when I hear the siding on our house blow in the wind.
You would love our house at night. There is a HUGE pack of coyotes in the field behind us and when they get going it sounds terrifying. Thank god for fences. Even the dogs don't want to go out, but say one word out loud and they hear it and shut up immediately. Just wait until frog mating season. = )
Frog mating season and coyotes are NOT equal in my book. Frogs aren't too scary sounding and I certainly don't have a problem with da sound of love regardless of species. Wait, yes I do! The same exact scary feeling used to occur when I was a child and these cats would get it on right outside my window late at night. I'm glad I'm not a cat because the noise of cats doin' it doesn't sound pleasurable to me!
