Refer me!

There are some words that, no matter how many times I read them, I always first perceive as another word. One word that this happens to often is refer. The latest example of this occurs anytime I'm on my way back from Doug's. There is an Arvest Bank with a signboard that says "Refer a friend/Get a free gift." I read refer as REEFER, though. Immediately I laugh, then am disappointed when I realize that it just says refer instead of REEFER.

Cruel Intentions 3 = 5.5/10. Storyline = fantastic, Acting = awful. Boobie shot = so-so. (I've been seeing a lot of nekkidness in movies lately. I'm not really trying to, though.) But what do we expect from direct-to-video goods? I'd say that the original Cruel Intentions is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. I've actually seen it three times, two times more than 99% of all movies watched by me. And yes, I've seen Dangerous Liaisons. It ain't got Ryan & Reese in it, though.

With very few exceptions, sequels are disappointing. 99% of the movies I really like are not sequels. Perhaps expectations of the sequel of a good movie are just too high.

There is a 1936 movie called Reefer Madness. This propaganda film took on a life of its own when the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws dug it out of the Library of Congress in the early 1970's. Since then, the movie has become a cult hit among modern audiences, who appreciate the story line's comedic value. In short, a group of teens seduced by the power of "reefer" take a few puffs -- and instantly become psychotic killers, jazz addicts and whores.

You can get it through Netflix.

I'm well aware of "Reefer Madness"--the movie AND the book (by Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation. I've already been there on that one.)

I'll consider putting it on my to see list at the very bottom. I have little interest in this, though.

One sequel that I did like was American Pie 2. I thought it was just as funny as the first.

Exceptions:
Toy Story
Spider Man
Indiana Jones (not counting 2)
Terminator

Terminator. You should not see ANY Terminators, whatsoever, at any time, under any circumstances.

Rachel, we have Reefer Madness (the movie, the movie!) if you want to watch it.
