My makeup leap of faith

Happy birthday to my daddy!

I'm not at work today because I'm sick. I plan to use this time to watch 15 movies. I might also take this opportunity to NOT go out tonight. I didn't really want to anyway.

Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous = 6.5/10. Not as good as the first one, but still had many moments.

If you have a penis, just go ahead and skip this one. (Actually, you might find humor in some of it.) OK, girlies, get out the pillows! It's time for my cosmetic product reviews.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion:

Background on me- I have super duper oily eyelids. It was a miracle if my eyeshadow stayed on more than 4 hours. Previous to Urban Decay, I used Mary Kay Eye Primer .It would buy me about three more hours of shadow-staying time. Guess what? 7 hours doesn't equal a work day. On to this product. The first thing I noticed was the uber fun packaging. When it's empty, I totally plan to go around poking people with it. It's got a little magic wand that you use to put on the white pasty stuff. I generally rub it over 60% of my lids and then use my finger to blend it over my whole lid. What does this product get me? Eyeshadow that stays put for at LEAST 16 hours. Yes, I said one-six HOURS! I put it on at 7:30 am one day before work and didn't go to sleep until 1:30 am. At 1:30, it looked 90% perfect. There were little oil spots on the outter corner of my eye (where no primer was rubbed on), but otherwise PERFECT! No crease, no movement, wonderful! What else does this get you? Eyeshadow that lasts through a workout. Which is important to know in the event you're trying to impress that guy that's trying to pick you up from the gym. It lasted in the melting heat, too. That's not all: there have been three days when I've needed to scratch my lid. DEEP scratching. Did my shadow melt or crease away? Nope. The only bad thing about this product is that when you push the wand in and out, it makes a really gross squishy noise. I also think when there's a little less product, it might be hard to "wand around" the inside of the bottle to find some. It's worth every bit of the cheap $14 I paid!

Purity Made Simple by philosophy:

Why can't I put my finger on what this stuff smells like? Generic flower with a touch of lemon? At any rate, this cleanser gets multiple jobs done. It removes ALL of your makeup with extremely little effort. It leaves skin with an ever so slight greasy feel. But...greasy face ain't nothing new to me. I'm not 100% sure I'll purchase this again as it was $32 for a 16 oz. bottle and I don't think I'm deriving much benefit beyond the makeup removal. We'll see. I might not realize how great it is until I stop using it or something.

iOd Hydra-Sorbet Aquatique (facial moisturizer) by (Christian) Dior:Oooh, it's by Dior! It's my first "big name" anything. No, wait...I wore a Cartier watch for a few hours once. Anyhwho, this stuff comes in a box that has a pamphlet in it. The pamphlet has 14 different languages on it. So, if you need to learn how to write "as a new century begins, so does a new world of skincare" in 13 other languages, it's now an option! It smells nice and florally. Doesn't sit on top of the skin as the night goes on. I love this stuff, but once again, I'm not 100% convinced that I need to spend $32 on a small bottle of facial lotion. We'll see.

On to the four freebies I got with my Sephora order.

A) Lolita Lempicka Eau de Parfum: Really really sweet smelling. I LOVE IT! Someone buy me this stuff for Christmas, please. Actually, no. I want the philosophy Cinnamon Buns shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the industrial strength size from QVC. I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on shower gel. But YOU can for me, right? :)

B) Flowers by Kenzo: Smells very old lady grandma. Just eww!

C) Kinerase L0tion: This stuff is $117/bottle. That's the only reason I picked this freebie instead of something else. I decided that if I put the lotion on at night and looked like [insert name of fabulous movie star with brown hair here] in the morning, that I would buy it. But alas...

D) Lorac Lashes (mascara): This stuff is goopy, but I LOVE it! It doesn't roam throughout the day and gives me porn star lashes. I might have to buy some more. And that's why they put freebies in there. I LOVE half of them. Mighty find marketing.

I want that food-smelling stuff.
Have I mentioned my obsession with smelling like desserts?

No, but ET says it is heaven in a bottle.

There is a term for people who go around poking other people. I believe it is "picarie," (peek-ah-ree) though I am uncertain of the spelling. LT can update us on that one.

I think you will find that the Purity grows on you, and IF you do, I suggest that you spring for the $40 32oz. bottle as this is a much better bargain. Just don't mix it up with your Cinnamon Buns (fab, fab, fabulous).

If you don't like the iOd after you finish it, you might try the Philosophy Hope in a Jar (or the Hope in a Bottle...there is one made specifically for oily skin). These also absorb right in and leave your skin feeling great in the morning (and not like it has lotion SITTING on it), but the fragrance they use in it tends to make my eyes burn if I get it anywhere close to them. As for the iOd, I think it smells very ocean-mineral-y, and not flowery. I hate flowery or fruity. But it is a bit on the pricey side.

Let me know how the Kinerase works. I don't think I will be shelling out $117/bottle for this, though.

Holy Jebus I can smell like Cinnamon Buns. I know I am a guy and all, but since I am not social and stay in my room a lot, the idea of smelling like a dessert just seems very inviting to me.

So, happy Christmas to Adam.
