The Homebuying Saga, Part IV

Thursday, July 24:

I get a fax at work from the Realtor telling me to give her a call. She says that GMAC is the 2nd mortgage holder and that Countrywide won't be losing any money on the contract price. She tells me that Countrywide will get a final answer back to us within 30 days. I suppose GMAC and Countrywide are going to battle it out over the next month to decide who loses the money and if they'll both accept the terms of the short sell. Whatever. Still in limbo.

Wait, that was 18 days ago! What's new!?

Seriously, $10,000 is a lot of money, so I don't blame you guys for wanting to pull the plug at that point.

An answer in 30 days? Isn't the seller on the verge of foreclosure? Or does the lender freeze that while this "deliberation" is going on? Or do you think they may be using this waiting period to see if a "$410,000" buyer comes along in these 30 days?

The seller's LENDER would give us an answer in 30 days. It's not like the seller is sitting in her home she's about to be foreclosed on going "hmm...should I take this offer or not?" I have no idea why the lender so slow. Probably because it's a huge company and there's more than one mortgage holder involved. Oh, AND everyone is being foreclosed on right now.

okay, totally confused! So, when I talked to you last, you said you had the house...was that because you were in a drug-induced coma (of sorts)?

No, it's because this was as of July 24th and I haven't updated yet.
