Bottlecap Jesus

Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star (2003) = 6.5/10. Amazingly, this was a lot better than I thought it would be. If you watch, make sure you play it through the end credits for the funny song.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) = 9.5/10. Rachel watched and loved a sci-fi movie? Yes! No, this wasn't the first time I had viewed this movie, but it was the first time since adulthood. You can't go wrong with Spielberg...except for that A.I. movie.

The Birds (1963) = 9/10. I've never mentioned it before, but I really love Hitchcock films. Even though I've only seen about 5 of his films. I watched this in the back of Hoopty with Joshua on the way back from Vegas. I derived great pleasure touching his neck at an opportune bird-swooping moment.

Harold and Maude (1971) = 4/10. At the end of the day, it's still a septuagenarian and a kid under 20 (I think) in love. That will never cease to disturb me.

Dawson's Creek: Season 1: Disc 1 (1998) No, I had never seen this, either. But I intend to see them all now. So very very wrong to have sex with your teacher. I tink I'm going to quit officially rating TV shows and just add them to the list of stuff I watch.

One of my Vegas goals included finding a tacky gift for Doug. I ended up getting him a back scratcher that says New Mexico on the handle. While tacky, he can actually use this gift. Cost would have been 99 cents, but the cashier gave it to me for free (see day 1 post for details).

In my research for the world's most tacky gift, I came across this thing. I call it Bottlecap Jesus (even thoug it's the Virgin):

I know my photo is horrible. I took 4 shots and none of them worked out too well because of brightness issues on bottlecap metal. What you're looking at is a cross of painted wood. The wood has upside down bottlecaps. Each picture of Mary has SPARKLE PUFF PAINT surrounding it. At the top and barely showing in the photo is a metal piece with four rounded points.

Even if this has some religious purpose of which I am unaware, it's still funny. If it does have some religous purpose, please explain.

Retail price: $14.99. All of this and much much more can be found at Jackalope Santa Fe.

I've never seen Harold and Maude. What's a setuagenarian anyways - some sort of snake creature? I'd have to agree that a kid falling in love with a snake creature is odd. But those sci-fi movies are always odd.

A septuagenarian is a person between the ages of 70 and 80. It was my new favorite word about 6 months ago. Yeah, falling in love with a snake would be weird, too.

I can't believe you didn't think to buy me that Jesus/Mary praying thingy. Would've gone great in my living room.

Oops! I was being selfish that day. Well, most days. Bbesides, I think the magnet on your refrigerator should have completed your "wacky Christian things" collection.
